COMUNE returns to Milan Design Week with a new location and an evolved exhibition format, continuing its focus on collectible design rooted in material experimentation and process-driven practices. Curated by Lexavala, Dérive and The Good Living & Co., the project brings together different perspectives across contemporary design, combining curatorial research, creative direction and independent design practice.
Founded as a community rather than a traditional exhibition platform, COMUNE brings together both established and emerging designers whose work stands out through strong material research and original production processes. The project aims to create visibility for practices that often exist outside commercial design structures, focusing instead on authorship, experimentation, and independent ways of working.
The 2026 edition reflects this approach by combining returning exhibitors – who have helped shape COMUNE’S identity over the years – with new participants selected through both invitation and open call. This balance allows the exhibition to function both as a stable network and an expanding platform for new voices.
Presented at Spazio IVY during Milan Design Week, the exhibition continues COMUNE’S interest in situating collectible design within environments that encourage exchange rather than passive viewing. More than a presentation of objects, COMUNE operates as a meeting point for designers, collectors, and the wider creative community.
Through this growing international network, COMUNE continues to develop as a space supporting independent design and contemporary object culture.
